Merrilees Moran is an English artist whose work (mixed media on canvas) seems to peel back the layers of time and familiarity to reveal new perspectives. A maker at heart, Merrilees also re-imagines interiors, furniture and found objects, and, through her teaching, forges spaces for other people to explore their own creativity. A graduate of 3D design and ceramics, Merrilees taught art and design for 16 years in the north of England before moving to Limoux, SW France, with her husband and 3 children. It was whilst renovating the family home, an ancient maison de maitre that she conceived the idea for her boutique studio and teaching workshop, Atelier Coucou Limoux, where she now runs multi- disciplinary art workshops and classes for the local community. With over 35 years of experience working in a variety of media, Merrilees has found that painting invites her to consider remembered vistas and to evoke new depths of awareness. Her abstract landscape compositions explore textures and layers of muted colours, expressed with a fluidity that encourages the viewer to construct their own narrative.
